Schlocktober Returns This Year!

Well, guys, another spooky season is almost upon us, and you know what that means: October Fest is coming soon. Back in 2019, I did my first themed October Fest with what I called Schlocktober, which featured nothing but either enjoyable B-movies or movies that were downright bad. A lot of people seemed to enjoy that, likely because you're all a bunch of sadists who enjoy seeing me cringe and suffer through some really awful stuff. But, at the end of the day, if you're entertained, that's all that matters to me, and so, six years later, Schlocktober has returned for another round. This is Schlocktober 2, which will function more or less like the first one, with equal amounts enjoyable B and Z-grade movies, as well as just full on crap that I don't think anyone is a big fan of (but, then again, I may be surprised). There are also going to be a fair number of updates as part of this marathon, with most of them coming from my first year doing this, when I wasn't putting images to them yet, as well as some that I did update before but I always felt I could've done a lot better. I won't give away any specifics but I will say that this month's lineup will consist of another Bela Lugosi Poverty Row flick, a handful of low-grade creature features from the drive-in era, another piece from the incomparable Ed Wood, one of the late Wes Craven's less successful forays into television, a George Romero movie that I'm not too fond of, some flicks associated with Roger Corman in some manner, several by schlockmeister Jim Wynorski, a massive Stephen King misfire, and a handful of obscure independent movies from the 2000's, among others.

And in case you're wondering if my "friend" Newt Cox contributed to this Schlocktober in any way, yes, he did. Unlike that movie that must not be named, his isn't the final one in the line-up this time, so don't worry if the first Schlocktober left you with a bitter taste in your mouth at the end. The one this year is near the end and it does suck just about as much as that movie, but there's so much other junk around it that I think its overall effect will be lessened.

Anyway, as per usual, check back in on October 1st and we'll kick things off. Hope to see you there.
